Sing or hum a part into any instrument
Can’t play the keys? Sing it. The mic on a track turns what you sing, hum or beatbox into notes, played on that track’s instrument.
The studio needs a computer or an iPad. On a phone, Vocals is the app without the studio.
Step 1 of 5
-
Every track has a mic button. Pick the track you want to play the part.
-
On drums, a low “boom” becomes a kick, “ka” a snare and “tch” a hi-hat. On Bass or Keys, hum a tune.
-
What you sang comes back as notes in a clip, on the song’s time, ready to edit in the piano roll.
-
The notes are an instrument now: swap the sound from the browser, a Rhodes, a cello, a synth lead.
-
Right-click a clip and choose Replace with your voice to sing a new version of it.
Pro tips
- Sing one syllable a note (“la la la”): it is easier to read than a held vowel.
- Headphones keep the song out of the microphone.
Your turn
