Mix, master and export
A good mix is mostly balance. Set the levels, check each part on its own, master the song for streaming, then send it out in the format you need.
The studio needs a computer or an iPad. On a phone, Vocals is the app without the studio.
Step 1 of 6
-
Play the song and drag the volume sliders until nothing sticks out.
-
S plays one track alone, to check a part. M takes a track out.
-
Press ⌘3 for the mixer: every track as a channel, side by side.
-
Master brings the song to −14 LUFS, the loudness streaming services expect.
-
Publish, in the top bar, puts the song in Community in one click.
-
Save a WAV or MP3 of the mix, Stems (one WAV per track) or MIDI.
Pro tips
- Mix at a low volume: if it sounds balanced quietly, it sounds balanced everywhere.
- Stems are what a mixing engineer or a remixer will ask you for.
